What the function of discouraged members is?
“The ‘Discourager’ is a system that aims to make the browsing experience of ‘discouraged’ users as frustrating as possible, with the goal of having them give up and leave.”
It is an option used by TLR and its bezness forums which makes it difficult or impossible for a user to navigate the site.
Lets say admins of those forums thinks that one of the members starts raising questions of injustice on their site (Admins deleting comments, taking sides, spreading hate speech etc…) – this person keeps persisting onto sharing his opinion and they have told him many times not to do it.
What do they do about it? They discourage him to a page of their choosing. The person is redirected to a blank page, or a page they specify in the discourage options. (Maintenance page, slow his acess to the forum).
